about
concept
We are making things with the concept of "Let's make the moment more joyful !"
Lagimusim means "now is the season" in Indonesian.
The brand logo raccoon dog has a joyful image of raccoon dogs with the feeling of "remembering playfulness".
story
In 2010, we started activities with Takeshi Higaki and Kana Muraki.
Became a married couple and moved from Tokyo to the countryside in 2016.
It is manufactured in an environment rich in nature surrounded by mountains and rivers.
It's a little long, but I would like to introduce us and the process of making the work below.
I would appreciate it if you could get along with me.
Lagimusim is an Indonesian word that means "the season again" and, in turn, "now is the season".
When Higaki was still active as a 舞踏(butoh) dancer, a senior dancer wrote a word to a postcard from the performance destination Indonesia and sent it to me. After that, when I started my current job with Muraki, this word came to me again.
Let's work while valuing "always enjoying now"!
I felt that it well represented us who thought so, so I decided on the shop name.
The brand logo raccoon dog is from our slogan "Patience, motivation, raccoon dog". From the joyful image of the raccoon dog, we have the feeling that we will never forget the playfulness.
Muraki, who was studying clothing at a vocational school, and Higaki, who was also involved in creating a dance stage, both love making things and are good at it!
Since starting Lagimusim, we have produced accessories and miscellaneous goods such as pierced earrings made of leaves hardened with resin and bags sewn by combining colorful fabrics (which leads to the current paani series). I also handmade the catalog and started the business by jumping in.
....
Origami crane earrings, which we started making with all our thoughts after the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, were placed in a general store in Tokyo Midtown (Roppongi) and were well received.
....
It is now available at major general stores and museums, including paani bags. We were invited to open stores at events, etc., and the sales destinations gradually expanded nationwide.
The eldest son was born in the summer of 2014, when he was so busy producing that he couldn't keep up with the delivery.
However, the following year, the ward office sent me a notice of "disapproval" for admission to the nursery school ...!
At this time, Higaki felt that the days when he was just doing his job were already at the limit. Higaki has been working alone since late pregnancy, but if he doesn't work with Muraki, he can't do an interesting job.
Amidst a feeling of despair, the conclusion that the two of us made on the spot was "Let's leave Tokyo". A few days after receiving the notice of disapproval, I went to an emigration seminar. I went to a town I knew there.
When I stepped into the old folk house that I was introduced to, I got the image of living with my family. The town is focusing on parenting and education, and I also felt the atmosphere of welcoming migrants. After that, I visited several times and sometimes hesitated to move, but in the end, the smiles of my grandpa and grandma next door were the decisive factors.
Since I came to the countryside, my working style has changed completely.
When I was in Tokyo, it was a busy day, with production, meetings at night, and store research for studying. I was tired, but I thought it was normal.
There are no business partners or stores to go out here. By deciding the working hours and focusing on them, we are now able to live at our own pace. Communication with business partners is mainly by email or phone. Most of my business trips are in Tokyo once or twice a month, but it's not too painful.
The second son was born in the spring of 2017. We decide on weekends as family time and go out to rivers, lakes, the sea, etc. with the family. If my child grows a little bigger, I wonder if I can climb a mountain ...
Since I moved, I have been blessed with some new encounters, such as the cooperation of the factory. We may also receive new ideas and technical advice. Inspired by the surrounding nature. Thanks to you, the content of the work has been further enhanced.
Customers, people around them, business partners and related parties, and us creators. I hope everyone involved in the work will have fun. With that in mind, I would like to continue my activities.
Thank you very much!
