繊維産業のサスティナビリティ報告書を読んで。vol.5

Read the textile industry sustainability report. vol.5

I would like to study the current situation of the textile industry in Japan by reading the report of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, "Blueprint for a New Era" July 2021.

Deepen your understanding by commenting and supplementing excerpts from the report. I would like to read on in style. thank you.

This is the continuation of vol.4.

III. Current Status and Future Initiatives Related to Sustainability
1.Environmental Consideration (2) Current Situation Towards environmental friendliness, the textile industry as a whole needs to make efforts that cover the entire process from the product planning stage to the end of consumption activities. However, at present, there is no unified concept or evaluation index regarding environmental consideration in the textile industry. In order to promote resource recycling, it is necessary to build a collection system, including the collection of used clothing at stores. At present, however, it is difficult to say that there is a growing tendency in Japan for consumers to actively purchase eco-friendly products, and consumer participation is also becoming important.

At present, even if we produce eco-friendly products, we don't feel that consumers will choose us, but manufacturers create and disseminate eco-friendly products, and consumers who need them also purchase and disseminate them. times when it can be done. I think that will change.

(3) Future Initiatives 1. Formulation of Guidelines for Environmentally Conscious Design In formulating the guidelines, not only apparel, but also spinning, weaving/knitting, dyeing and finishing, sewing, and other industries and companies at each stage of the supply chain. Participation is desirable. In the future, it is hoped that industry groups will take the lead in discussing the formulation of the guidelines, with the participation of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

From now on, it seems that the discussion of the guideline formulation will start.

2. Construction of collection system Construction of a collection system for used textile products is expected to promote reuse and recycling through store collection. It is important to disseminate the handling of "waste that is exclusively for recycling" (exclusively). At present, four items exclusively for waste paper, scrap iron, empty bottles, and used fiber are permitted under the Waste Management Law. is no longer needed. This system can be used for used fibers.

It is possible to collect old fibers after consumption activities and promote reuse and recycling efforts. There is no problem in terms of the Waste Disposal Law. I want to work on Ragimshim as well. However, local governments may handle things differently, so confirmation is required.

3. Reforming consumer awareness Efforts on the part of consumers are also important. It is important to disseminate information that is easy to understand for consumers, and it is also possible to develop with the cooperation of influencers. In particular, the awareness of Generation Z tends to be high. In the future, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry should cooperate with related ministries and agencies such as the Consumer Affairs Agency and the Ministry of the Environment to develop activities to inform consumers.

In the future, at the request of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, a video of a famous influencer consuming environmentally friendly products may be produced.

Today is up to here.

thank you very much.
