繊維産業のサスティナビリティ報告書を読んで。vol.15最後になります。

Read the textile industry sustainability report. vol.15 will be the last.

I would like to study the current situation of the textile industry in Japan by reading the report of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, "Blueprint for a New Era" July 2021.

Deepen your understanding by commenting and supplementing excerpts from the report. I would like to read on in style. thank you.

Today is the final day of the report. Read the full text.

Conclusion The textile industry is an industry that has colored people's lifestyles and culture, centering on the clothing that people wear. In particular, clothing can be said to be a core means of self-expression for people, and it is believed that it will continue to create diverse values in the future. However, in the coming era of effective utilization of limited resources, we must avoid producing clothing that places a heavy burden on the environment and on the producers. In addition, even after consumption activities, efforts toward resource recycling must be promoted not only by companies but also by consumers.
In future business activities, it is believed that not only the provision of products and services, but also the creation and provision of "value" will become even more important. There is a possibility of acquiring new markets by creating and providing sustainability as a value. To that end, it is necessary to consider the ideal form from a long-term perspective, consider what should be done in the future, and formulate strategies and plans. At present, sustainability initiatives are progressing through SDGs and ESG investment, and we hope that such initiatives will be refined in the textile industry under these circumstances.
Until now, little progress has been made in managing the long and complex supply chains in the textile industry. However, in the future, taking responsibility for the final product will be seen as a given, and apparel companies in particular will need to have a firm grasp of materials, working environments, production volumes, and so on. Furthermore, in order to promote such efforts, it is necessary to cooperate with companies in the supply chain, and efforts will be made from upstream to downstream, and from large companies to small and medium-sized enterprises. Companies are not the only ones who are required to make efforts related to sustainability. It will be difficult to proceed with these efforts without changing the mindset of consumers, who have an impact on corporate activities through product purchases. We would like consumers to reconsider the effective use of resources and the way of consumption that is suitable for the modern era.
Japanese people have long had a culture of using clothes for a long time. Kimonos that were no longer worn were remade for children and then used as rags, making effective use of limited resources.
Clothing, which is one of the food, clothing and shelter, is essential for life. There is a need for a change in consciousness regarding sustainability by companies and consumers regarding clothing. We hope that this report will be read by a wide range of people, from companies to consumers, as a blueprint for a new era.

I've been reading through it for about a month and a half. At the end, it was a sentence that summarized the whole.

thoughts. I think it will take a long time for Japanese society to change its awareness of sustainability when it comes to clothing. However, one thing is certain: Earth's resources are finite. With the advancement of digital technology, it has become possible to convey the information of each product and also to know it. The awareness that we are in the midst of changing times has increased.

This Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry report "Blueprint for a New Era" is over. thank you very much.

I would also like to read various reports.
